JL Update- April 5, 2020

 

Dear Jaurez-Lincoln Families,

Our team misses you greatly and hopes this finds you well. I look forward to the day we are back on campus together.  Please let your children know we miss them, and our staff is so excited to connect with them this week.

Distance Learning
During Quarter 4, due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic, CVESD will embark upon a distance learning instructional model for all students until further notice.  To view our District newsletter regarding distance learning & other related items, please CLICK HERE.

Juarez-Lincoln’s goal is to keep student learning alive and well until health officials determine that our school is safe to reopen.  This week (April 6- 10), our teachers will be planning and preparing curriculum for distance learninginstruction.  Teachers will not, however, assign academic work this week.  Distance learning for students will start, to the extent possible, on Monday, April 13.     

This week, your child’s teacher will contact you by email or phone.  It’s important that you reply in a timely manner, as we need to assess the distance learning resources available at your home and confirm that all students are able to communicate with their teachers.     

We’ll strive to provide your child with a quality education in a nurturing, virtual classroom environment during this last quarter of the school year.  Since distance learning is new for both teachers and students, I respectfully ask that you are patient with our instructional team.  Rest assured, we’ll work hard to support you and your child through this new model of learning. 

Lastly, CVESD will not be distributing any digital devices (e.g., laptops) at this time.  However, our teachers will ensure that assignments will be flexible and equitable for all students. 

 

Meal Distribution

The District will resume meal distribution at Juarez-Lincoln and 9 other school sites for much of the week following Spring Break: Tues., April 7 – Friday, April 10.  Meal bags will contain breakfast and lunch servings. District and school staff will start distributing the meal bags at 10 a.m., and will stop once all bags are distributed on a first come, first served basis. Meals are intended for children between the ages of 1 to 18.

Meal Distribution Update

Hello Juarez-Lincoln Families,

I hope everyone is doing well.

Here is some important information about the upcoming weeks.  Please note that developments are fluid and may change at any time. I will continue to send out messengers as needed to keep everyone informed on important developments in the community.

  • Schools will remain closed indefinitely until further notice as part of a united effort to protect our citizens.
  • ALL 2019-2020 summative State assessments have been cancelled- including CAASPP, ELPAC, and Physical Fitness Testing.

Meal Distribution

Also note that the Chula Vista Elementary School District will extend its “grab-and-go” meal service for the next two weeks. The meal distribution will take place at nine regionally located school sites across the District. One of those will be Juarez-Lincoln.  However, there will be only ONE DAY for meal distribution each of those weeks, with a box for each student that will contain five days’ worth of meals.

The distribution dates are:

  • 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24 and
  • 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31

Students who are receiving meals must be physically present. Meals may consist of packaged, refrigerated, and frozen items.

Moving forward

I encourage you to stay positive and let’s all do our part in getting through this.  Let’s spread the word and maintain our distance from another, avoid gatherings, stay home (especially if sick), cough into your elbow, wash your hands, and don’t touch your face. These are things we can all do at this time to get through this pandemic and take care of our children, families, friends, elders, colleagues, and everyone else.

Meal Service

Dear CVESD Families,

The Chula Vista Elementary School District will extend its “grab-and-go” meal service through the two-week Spring Break, March 23 to 27 and March 30 to April 3. The meal distribution will take place at nine school sites across the region. Families will only need to make one trip to their closest school to pick up lunch and breakfast for the next day for children ages 1 to 18.

The hours are: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon) each day.

Students who are receiving the meals must be physically present. Meals are served cold and need to be reheated at home. The locations are:

Vista Square Elementary School (540 G Street Chula Vista, CA 91910)

Rice Elementary School (915 Fourth AV Chula Vista, CA 91911)

Juarez-Lincoln Elementary School (849 Twining Avenue San Diego, CA 92154)

Harborside Elementary School (681 Naples Street Chula Vista, CA 91911)

Casillas Elementary School (1130 East J St Chula Vista, CA 91910)

Salt Creek Elementary School (1055 Hunte Parkway Chula Vista, CA 91914)

Loma Verde Elementary School (1450 Loma Lane Chula Vista, CA 91911)

Muraoka Elementary School (1644 Santa Alexia Ave Chula Vista, CA 91913)

Sunnyside Elementary School (5430 San Miguel Road Bonita, CA 91902)

Additionally, starting Wednesday, March 18 the Chula Vista Elementary School District Office will be closed to the public, as will all school front offices. At this time, the District office and school offices are scheduled to reopen on Monday, April 6.

During these uncertain times, it’s important that we remain calm, follow the advice of trusted sources, and remember that we will get through this together.

2020 YMCA Campaign
