The CVESD Annual Speech Contest is coming up. The speech contest is for students in 4th – 6th grades. All students participate in giving a speech in their classroom and the top students from each class move forward to the school contest.
The school speech contest will be on Monday, February 5 at 8:30am in the auditorium.
From there, one student per grade is selected to represent JL at the District Speech Contest (4th grade – Feb. 28; 5th grade – March 1; 6th grade – March 2).

Juarez-Lincoln will be starting a Girls on the Run program! The first practice will be on February 6. Practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:55p-4:10p. This program is open to students in grades 3-6. Please contact Mrs. Borron with any questions (rm. 303; deborah.borron@cvesd.org). *Financial aid is available for JL students!
The Computer Lab will be open on Tuesday afternoon from 4:10pm – 5:30pm and again on Wednesday from 3:30pm – 5:30pm for parents that need assistance signing up their daughters for Girls on the Run. Teachers will be available to help register.
Mrs. Borron is also starting a Track and Field club for boys that are interested. See the flyers below for more information.
The Juarez-Lincoln School Dance will be on Friday, February 9!
Kinder – 3rd grade will have their dance during school from 1p – 1:30p.
4th – 6th grade will have their dance after-school from 1:45p – 3:00p. Students will need a signed permission slip to attend and cost is $2. Refreshments and snacks will be available for purchase during the dance.

Beginning the week of February 5, students will be taking the English Language Proficiency Assessment for California. The ELPAC is the new assessment that replaces the CELDT that students took in the past.
Students will take this if English is not their first language. Teachers have been preparing students for this in the classroom. To find out how you can help your child at home, visit the links below.
