When Lyla was a 5th grader, she suggested an idea to new principal at the time, Mrs. Faddis, to have bike racks installed at the school. It took a year, but Lyla’s dream to make our school a healthier place is coming true! Courtesy of the Amgen Tour of California bicycle race association, SANDAG, RAD Bikes, California Bikes, and San Diego’s own Bicycle Mum, the school now has the funding to purchase bike racks for the front of the school.
The school also received donations of helmets and lights for students. We hope to have the new bike racks installed for our first ever Bike to School event on May 6th. Now is a good time to give your bikes a safety check so you’ll be ready to join our Bike Train that will travel through the neighborhood and end up at school that day!
